How I became to know the "Holy Spirit"

Sunday Reflection 4/9/17

Good Morning my dear Friend ~

We only have two Beatitudes left to talk about.

Today is the 7th Beatitude which is ~

7th beatitude 3

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

Jesus gives us peace – “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you” (John 14:27). Peace is also a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Peacemakers not only live peaceful lives but also try to bring peace and friendship to others, and to preserve peace between God and man. But one cannot give another what one does not possess oneself. Praying for peace will help change your heart. The Lord wants you first to be filled with the blessings of peace and then to pass it on to those who have need of it. By imitating God’s love of man, the peacemakers become children of God.

7th beatitude 1

I truly think this is true ~

When we read the Beatitudes we learn so many beautiful meanings of life.

In the 7th beatitude it is all about the peacemaker, here is one example:

Nothing disqualifies us in being peacemakers more than talking about people rather than talking to them. The old Spanish proverb is correct: “Whoever gossips to you will gossip of you.” A peacemaker never says anything about another person that she or he has not first said to that person directly. After that, why tell anyone else?

I can find myself doing this from time to time, but I do try hard not to say bad things about another person, because when you do – you always feel awful that you did.  I think this is God’s way of telling us to be the peacemaker – it is in all of us you know.

AND now to one of the BIGGEST  peacemakers of all time ~

7th beatitude 5

How true ~

7th beatitude 4

Another BIG truth ~

Enjoy your day friend and remember be the peacemaker.

Much love,

Rose

California Family

Hi Friends ~

Today I was talking with my Mom and telling her all about our trip to California.

She was so excited for us to visit our girls – she know the feeling of being far away from your children.

So I went on to tell her about how I grocery shopped with Kristin – cooked with her and Jenny & how beautiful their home is.  How they made us feel so comfortable and special, and how happy we were to be with them.

Continuing on I told her about Aly & Brian and their pups and Mr “C” she totally loved me telling her about the animals.

How special they made us feel and how happy we were to be with both of them in their beautiful home.

I almost forgot to tell you all what an amazing lunch we had with our California Family

california 2017

We had a great time with everyone – We don’t get to be with each other that often, so when we do it is just so special.

I hope you are enjoying your day

Until next time.

Good Morning Friend ~

Pete & I just returned home from our 2 week visit in California.

Had an amazing visit with the girls and of course Brian.  We love to spend special time with them every year, plus a bonus of good weather.

Our visits go too fast, but they are so special in every way.

The weather was wonderful 70+ degrees and sunny who wouldn’t love that.

While in Pasadena we found this sweet little coffee shop  called  “ZELI’S”

It had the best coffee and muffins —

Sunday Reflection 3/26/17

Good Morning Friends ~

We will be learning about the 6th Beatitude today

6th beatitude 2

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Moses (Exodus 33:20), John 1:18, and Paul (I Timothy 6:16) all say that no one can see God here on earth! But Jesus says the pure of heart shall see God! To be pure of heart means to be free of all selfish intentions and self-seeking desires. What a beautiful goal! How many times have any of us performed an act perfectly free of any personal gain? Such an act is pure love. An act of pure and selfless giving brings happiness to all.

6th beatitude

What is total commitment ~

Commitment means to Love God with our Whole Being

6th beatitude 1

Which brings me to Mother Teresa

6th beatitude 4

This is what I love about Mother Teresa ~ to be faithful in the small things because this is where your strength lies.

So simple and true.

If we take each step of our lives this way it truly becomes easier to love one another.

6th beatitude 3

Beautiful Saint.

Have a wonderful & peaceful Sunday.

Until next time.

Much love,

Rose

Sunday Reflection 3/12/17

Good Morning Friends ~

Today we will begin to know more about the 5th Beatitude which is ~

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

5th beatitude 2

A Story of Love

‘The Good Samaritan’ is an example of the fifth beatitude. A man was robbed and attacked on a road, with serious injuries afterwards. Many men passed him on the road; they heard his cries for help. But they ignored him.
A Samaritan man was walking along the road and heard the man. He rushed over to him and helped him, taking him to a shelter and nursing him back to health.
He showed mercy to the poor man, and in return, he received mercy.

5th beatitude 3

Mercy is the loving disposition towards those who suffer distress. Love, compassion, and forgiveness towards one’s neighbor will bring peace in your relationships. We say in the Lord’s Prayer: Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. As we are merciful to others, so our Heavenly Father will be merciful with us! Jesus reminds us that whatever “you did to the least of my brethren, you did it to me (Matthew 25:31-46).” St. Paul calls for the obedience of faith in the beginning and end of his Letter to the Romans (1:5, 16:25-27). The following are ways to be merciful to your neighbor as well as to be obedient in faith to Christ our Savior.

A definition of the Corporal & Spiritual works of Mercy ~

  1. “Corporal works of mercy” which concern the material needs of others.
  2. “Spiritual works of mercy” which concern the spiritual needs of others.

The Corporal Works of Mercy
1 Feed the Hungry
2 Give drink to the thirsty
3 Clothe the naked
4 Shelter the homeless
5 Comfort the imprisoned
6 Visit the sick
7 Bury the dead

The Spiritual Works of Mercy
1 Admonish sinners
2 Instruct the uninformed
3 Counsel the doubtful
4 Comfort the sorrowful
5 Be patient with those in error
6 Forgive offenses
7 Pray for the living and the dead
5th beatitude 5

I know that Mother Teresa practiced both Corporal & Spiritual Works of Mercy.

5th beatitude 4

Just a sweet little 5th Beatitude picture ~

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Until next week

Much love,

Sunday Reflection 2/26/17

4th-beatitude-3

Hello Friends ~

Today we will look at the 4th Beatitude which is ~

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

4th-beatitude-1

So one way to distinguish between being righteous and being holy is to say that we are righteous, and are becoming holy. We are righteous through faith in Christ, and we are becoming holy as we grow in faith in Christ. We have been declared righteous because of something that happened outside us: Christ died for our sins. This is God’s work for us. We are not contributing anything to that. We just receive God’s blessing of righteousness when we believe. We are becoming holy because something is happening in us: we are becoming more and more like Christ. This is the work of God in us. It is still God’s work, but we are fully involved, we are living it out.

We may thirst for things to be made right, for those who hate us not to hate us, for those we dislike to grow on us, for reconciliation, for the end of poverty and greed, for the end of division and grief. We may thirst to no longer feel compelled to compare ourselves with others, which fosters the death of both pride and shame, the dissolution of fear and the resolution of all conflict.

Jesus says on the Sermon on the Mount, “blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness,” and it is this righteousness, the justice of God revealed in the person of Christ himself, to which he refers. It is a righteousness that not only reveals God to be just, but which justifies those who are in Christ, gradually makes them righteous, and the goodness and peace and justice of God spreads throughout the world, like a mustard seed that grows into a great tree. Being made righteous according to Paul in his epistle to the Romans is therefore the fruit of conversion, a real and living change in one’s heart and behaviors that results in being united to Christ — being in Christ —

Sunday Reflection 2/19/17

3rd-beatitude-1

Happy Sunday Friends ~

The third beatitude

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

3rd-beatitude-4

THE MEEK are those who are gentle, humble, and unassuming, simple in faith and patient in the face of every affront. Imbued with the precepts of the gospel, they imitate the meekness of the Lord, who says, “Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart.”

TO SEE what meekness is, you must look not at meekness but at Christ. Saying meekness is this or that sends you to concepts which are pale copies of reality. Saying “Jesus is meek” sends you to the living reality of it.

IF IT IS the meek, the helpless, the disabled, who will inherit the earth, this is perhaps because the earth, God’s earth, the real earth, can be had on no other terms. It is a gift.

3rd-beatitude

THE LAND is always inherited; it is not taken. It is not ours to take, but God’s to give. Thus we have no absolute right to it. Our “inheritance” of any land ultimately demands fidelity to God’s vision for the household, how we are to live in the land.

THERE IS radiant meekness in Mary’s response to the archangel Gabriel: “Here I am, the servant of the Lord. Let it be with me just as you have said” (Luke 1:38). … In all its meekness, no other act in human history has had such significance. Through Mary, our Creator became one with us in the flesh.

3rd-beatitude-5

GENTLENESS, to be sure, is a fruit of meekness. But the main point about the meek is not their gentleness but their quiet faith and trust in God.
The meek turn again and again to God for help, for direction, and for the sheer joy of it.

Which brings me to my new favorite saint ~ Mother Teresa

3rd-beatitude-2

3rd-beatitude-3

She is perfect in my eyes.

Love you Mother Teresa ~

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Much love,

Rose
